Prince Harry and Prince William shared a good and tight relationship as brothers. Even after the Duchess of Cambridge's arrival to the royal life, the royal siblings remained close, along with Kate Middleton.

However, while the two royal-born Princes shared similar interests and hobbies since they were kids, it was revealed that they had different wishes and wants for the future of the British Monarchy. As stated, one of them wanted to be a reigning monarch, while the other did not.

According to Express UK, British journalist, Jeremy Paxman, reportedly, revealed in several materials that he was able to talk with Princess Diana a year before her death in 1997. It was said that they had a "private lunch" after the secretary of the Princess of Wales called him to set up a meeting.

He then revealed that during their lunch, they both talked about their kids, especially the Princess' kids, Prince Harry and Prince William. It was attested that the mother of two claimed that, in the past, the now-Duke of Cambridge always told his mother that he does not want to become King in the future. Sadly, though, he is destined to become one since then.

Conversely, the now-Duke of Sussex, reportedly, had other things in mind. It was said that while Prince William claims of not wanting to become a reigning monarch, he tells his mother that, if his brother would not take it, then he would.

Several publications described it as "cheeky" since these statements came from the younger selves of the two royal princes. However, things have seemingly changed through the years as Prince Harry and Prince William, reportedly, had a change of heart.

As per Woman's World, the Duke of Sussex has "infamously changed" his mind, which became very apparent in recent months. Earlier this year, he and his wife, Meghan Markle announced that they will step down as senior royals and live their lives outside the monarchy.

On March 31, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle exited. They are now officially non-working royals, residing in the United States.

On the other hand, Prince William has continued to do his duties and responsibilities. While he never said that he wanted to be King of the United Kingdom in the future, it has appeared that he takes his position seriously in the British Monarchy.

This has become more apparent recently when the COVID-19 crisis emerged in the United Kingdom. While most of the senior royals have been observing the social distancing guidelines in the country, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been widely praised and commended for their efforts and hard work in helping to fight against the pandemic.
