The future of SWAT season 4 is still hanging up in the air right now, as CBS hasn't yet announced the official renewal status of the Shemar Moore-led series. But despite the uncertainties, fans are still hopeful the show is coming back for more.

At the moment, nothing is confirmed about SWAT season 4. In terms of ratings, the third installment has averaged a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and close to 3.9 million live viewers. While these numbers drop from where the series was in season 2, there's still hope for the series.

SWAT is comparable to other CBS' shows at 10 PM Eastern timeslots across the board. CarterMatt noted this is likely enough to consider the show's future. Yet, there are also other factors; the action scenes present in the show aren't, reportedly, cheap to make.

But despite that, the renewal of SWAT season 4 is still likely, largely because of its DVR performance, international popularity, as well as the presence of Moore as the lead character. And unlike other networks, CBS does not have many cancelations over the past years.

Hence, there is a huge hope for SWAT season 4. In addition, the series still has a lot of interesting things to offer, and it's exciting to see how some of the characters deal with their everyday lives -- both professionally and personally.

And while waiting for the official renewal of SWAT season 4, the current installment continues delivering interesting storylines. For instance, Hondo's sister will be visiting in episode 19, and she'll share some important stories, as well as potential issues.

In the episode, Hondo's sister, Winnie, pays a surprise visit. However, her arrival puts pressure on Hondo's relationship with Nichelle. Meanwhile, the SWAT team tries to search for an escaped convict. This person wants to kill Tan and every member of law enforcement; who put him in prison years ago.

Chris will also have a particular storyline within this episode and she'll be in a difficult position. She comes face to face with internal corruption after she arrests a young man, who was able to get a free pass because of his powerful father.

Just like other shows across other networks, SWAT also deals with some constant schedule changes due to the COVID-19 outbreak. For instance, episode 19, titled "Vice," was originally set to air on Thursday, Apr. 15. But then, CBS opted to push it back, so it's now slated to release on Apr. 22.
