Prince Harry may be based in Los Angeles with Meghan Markle and their son, Archie Harrison, but the Duke of Sussex apparently does not have any plans to get a U.S. green card in the "foreseeable future."

A source revealed to The Times that Prince Harry has not yet submitted a citizenship application. The source also said that the Duke of Sussex will not go for a green card "at any point," suggesting that the move to Los Angeles is not going to be permanent.

Apparently, there are some kinks to Prince Harry's green card application, should the royal actually decide to go for it. He will have to give up his royal title and become a U.S. taxpayer if he's going to work while living in Los Angeles.

However, experts said that Prince Harry may still be able to legally live and work in the United States while retaining his royal title and British citizenship. Immigration lawyer Parisa Karaahmet told Town & Country that Prince Harry may apply for an O-1 visa.

An O-1 visa is applicable to individuals "who have very high level of accomplishment in their fields." Prince Harry may indicate in his application that he excels in philanthropy or a similar area and he will need an organization to sponsor his visa.

Karaahmet, however, said that the O-1 visa will have to be periodically reviewed while Prince Harry has to maintain his ties with the organization that sponsored him. It comes as Prince Harry and Meghan announced that they have a new foundation name in place of Sussex Royal.

The couple said that they will launch Archewell, inspired by their son's name, in due time. The new organization will be their focus as non-working members of the royal family. The Sussexes also plan to earn a private income from this organization.

However, Prince Harry and Meghan said the focus, for now, is to help with the global pandemic as coronavirus cases are still rising and taking lives all over the world. This public health crisis has also halted the Sussex royals' plans to officially unveil Archewell, however, Prince Harry and Meghan said that they were prompted to reveal the name as the records are already public.

Prince Harry and Meghan moved to Los Angeles in late March after staying in Vancouver for close to five months. The couple are still observing the stay-at-home orders from the local government to stop the spread of coronavirus.
