New Amsterdam season 2 finale is scheduled to arrive next week on NBC, with the title "Matter of Second." This episode wasn't meant to be the season finale, but the series shifted its direction due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Yet, even though this wasn't the original season finale, it will still deliver some interesting and intense storylines. For Iggy, he will be dealing with a difficult patient.
In New Amsterdam season 2 finale, Iggy will try to create peace for a divorced couple during a dangerous situation. A sneak peek shows that he's having a difficult time talking with a patient and it seems like they don't agree with some things. Their heated argument likely stemmed from the man having firearms, and it looks like they have different opinions about it.
The patient also thinks that Iggy is judging his political beliefs and not listening to him. This might be challenging for the doctor, but he also recognized that it's part of his job. He needs to figure out why this patient is acting this way. He also needs to find a way on how to have a real and honest conversation with this person. It's also obvious he's not open to therapy, which is an additional challenge for Iggy.
As for what else is coming, multiple patients throughout the hospital show similar and alarming symptoms, so Sharpe and Bloom try to figure out the root of the issue. Within this episode, we're going to see the hospital reacting to this shocking situation. The doctors need to do whatever they can to stop several patients suddenly crashing out.
Daniel Dae Kim's character is also arriving in New Amsterdam season 2 finale. The Hawaii Five-0 alum will be playing the role of Dr. Shin. There are only a few details about the character as of yet, but it seems like he's a bit quirky. In one of the previews, he said that he needs a hot shower before doing anything in the ED. It also feels like his arrival may lead to some clashes.
Meanwhile, since this wasn't meant to be the original season finale, the episode may not have some huge cliffhangers. The series shuts down its production and opted to air an alternative ending, hence the changes. As for the remaining episodes that weren't aired this season, some of them might be included in the potential third installment.
New Amsterdam season 2 finale airs on Tuesday night, Apr. 14, on NBC.
