Jack Grealish made headlines for all the wrong reasons recently but it appears that won't stop teams from pursuing him. At least three teams are in pursuit of the 24-year-old midfielder with United singled out as the one likely to snag the Aston Villa star.
Grealish is one of the top players making headlines with uncertainty looming over the current season. The interest in his services is self-explanatory. He has been one of the vital cogs for Aston Villa, the main source of goals and assists by Dean Smith. His efforts have helped the Lions to rank 19th in the standings ahead of nearest rivals Bournemouth, Watford, and West Ham. Grealish has nine goals and set up another eight across 31 competitions, Goal.com reported.
United has been singled out as the team likely to go all out for Grealish with City and the Spurs not far behind. In the eyes of former Villa Star Darren Bent, a move to any of the mentioned teams would be pretty tempting for Grealish to consider.
“I think they’re the three that are looking at him, and he’s eyeing them thinking ‘I’d like to go to one of them’," Bent said to Football insider. “I’d probably put Man United at the very, very top of that. If that doesn’t happen and Villa go down, you never know, but for me, he’s got his eye on them.”
Other than his exploits in the Premier League, Grealish is expected to be part of Gareth Southgate's England squad for the European Championship. That was before the tournament was pushed back a year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Like most footballers, Grealish is now forced to stay at home for his good. The 24-year-old urged everyone to stay indoors but the midfielder got embroiled in a controversial picture involving two parked vehicles in Solihull, Birmingham recently. Grealish admitted that it was indeed him in the photos and such as a result of him stupidly agreeing to go around with a friend. There is still no word on the sanctions he is facing but it seems that this will not alter the plans of teams who are seriously considering to pluck him out of Aston Villa.
Bent is the second player who feels Grealish is bound to leave the Lions. Previously, it was former teammate Allan Hutton who feels that the English midfielder will be moving to another club. He believes that with Grealish's talent, he can easily fit in with any team.
