Devi Lovato is keeping some of her people close to her while leaving others out of her life. The singer opened up about sobriety and revealed the fellow celebrities that she still keeps in touch with. Unfortunately, her fellow Disney star Selena Gomez and ex-boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama are not among them.
Lovato will be on the cover of the upcoming May issue of Harper's Bazaar. Along with it is an interview with the "Tell Me You Love Me" songstress where she talked about her sobriety, taking a break from the spotlight for two years, creating new music, and more. Demi was also asked about her celebrity friends.
Lovato said she has a supportive friendship with labelmate Ariana Grande. The singer added that she also loves Miley Cyrus and the "Wrecking Ball" singer is the only person from their generation that she keeps in touch with.
So how about Selena Gomez? Lovato admitted that she is no longer friends with Gomez. Demi was asked about Selena's message for her after her Grammy performance earlier this year.
"When you grow up with somebody, you're always going to have love for them. But I'm not friends with her, so it felt... I will always have love for her, and I wish everybody nothing but the best," the 27-year-old singer replied.
Back in January, Demi made her first public performance since her hospitalization due to overdose in July 2018. Following her comeback performance at the Grammys, Selena took to social media to send a warm message to the "Sorry Not Sorry" singer.
In her message, Gomez said Lovato's powerful performance was indescribable. Selena added that she is happy for Demi and thanked the former The X Factor judge for her bravery.
Lovato and Gomez were once close pals. They appeared on Barney & Friends together and were Disney Channel stars around the same time.
Aside from Selena, Demi also revealed that she is no longer in touch with her Camp Rock co-stars the Jonas Brothers and her ex-boyfriend, NCIS actor Wilmer Valderrama. Lovato and Valderrama dated for six years before they broke up in 2016. The actor was among Lovato's friends who constantly showed support to her during and after her hospitalization.
Valderrama announced his engagement to Amanda Pacheco earlier this year. Lovato said she is happy for her former beau but she believes that she needs to be okay now on her own.
