Prince Harry was using the surname Wales when he was still at school and in the army and he had always been using Mountbatten-Windsor all his life. However, the Duke of Sussex dropped his royal family surname last week.

The change was seen in the registration documents for a new sustainable tour firm Travalyst. The paperwork revealed that Prince Harry ditched his royal surname and registered as Prince Henry Charles Albert David, Duke of Sussex.

While many were shocked and upset with Prince Harry’s decision, an insider claimed that he didn’t do it to throw shade at Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the Royal family. The source noted that the Duke of Sussex is “not planning to drop his Mountbatten-Windsor title legally,” but he is only going to use it for more formal events.

“The bottom line is, he prefers to keep it casual and be known as ‘Harry,’” they said, adding that Prince Harry assured Queen Elizabeth that dropping the surname was not a “personal dig” at her. The source then noted that Her Majesty “still means the world to him.”

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced earlier this year that they will be stepping down as senior royals to focus more on their family and charities, they accepted the consequences of losing their HRH titles and the Duke of Sussex’s military title. The couple is also be banned from using the word “royal” in their future activities.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle then released a statement that they had no intention of using the “Sussex Royal” brand after they officially leave their roles. Reports then claimed that the couple was set to close down their Sussex Royal Foundation as they start their new life outside the Royal family.

Last week, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle revealed their new foundation Archewell. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared that they were inspired by the word “Arche” for their new foundation, which is also the name of their son.

However, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s key error led internet trolls to make fun of the Archewell Foundation website. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex forgot to register the domain name of their new non-profit empire and these trolls hijacked several potential domain names that the couple will use, such as archewellfoundation and archewellcharity.

"We will surrender this domain upon the immediate and safe return of Prince Harry Charles Albert David, Duke of Sussex to Her Majesty's United Kingdom,” a message was posted on the archewellcharity.com website.
