Apple just released the 2020 iPhone SE, and the device looks a lot like the iPhone 8. Regardless of looks, it looms as a sensible device to get for folks who may be planning to get one. And considering that most are wary about spending big, the 2020 iPhone SE is priced pretty fairly at just $399.

iPhones have not been cheap to come by in recent years. Such is the reason why some buyers have opted to go for other brands that offer a much cheaper variant and yet come packed with advanced features. The 2020 iPhone SE may not have those high-end specs, but most users look at other things such as functionality and fair quality-made device.

The 2020 iPhone SE sports a 4.7-inch Retina HD display and the familiar home button at the bottom. That button doubles as the Touch ID biometric security that some past iPhones offer. Underneath, the 2020 iPhone SE will draw power from Apple's A13 Bionic chipset - the same SoC that the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro uses.

Other notable features of the 2020 iPhone SE include dual-SIM capability, (Nano-SIM and e-SIM) and provisions for wireless charging according to CNet. In terms of connectivity, the device will continue to rely on the Lightning connector. It is water-resistant (IP67), making it ideal for folks who are wary about its sensitivity outdoors.

As far as the built-in cameras, the 2020 iPhone SE may pale in comparison to the new phones out in the market right now. It will come with a 12 MP main camera and f/1.8 aperture lens. The camera supports Portrait mode, six Portrait Lighting effects, and Depth Control as well as a Smart HDR system for better balancing of light and dark selections. At the front is a 7 MP front-facing selfie camera that eventual buyers should find decent.

As mentioned earlier, the base 64 GB 2020 iPhone SE will retail for $399. The price moves up from there with the 128 GB version retailing for $449, and the 256 GB version priced at $549. The budget-friendly iPhone will be available in (product) red, black and white color variants. Pre-orders start Apr. 17 with shipments scheduled to start on Apr. 24.

Apple is also doing its part in helping out in the fight against COVID-19. Folks who buy the product red variant will see a portion of that included in proceeds going directly to the Global Fund's newly established COVID-19 Response and the HIV/AIDS grants that provide testing, counseling, treatment, and prevention programs.
