The Golden State Warriors are rebuilding but it appears their starting core is almost complete. Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green are expected to be healthy and back next season as the Dubs try to bounce back from a forgettable 2019-20 NBA season. Aside from them, there is Andrew Wiggins to think about, someone they got from the Minnesota Timberwolves in that D'Angelo Russell trade.

Looking at their starting unit, it appears the missing piece is a center or someone who can play the middle. The Dubs could get that in the 2020 NBA Draft by selecting James Wiseman, a 7-foot-1 center who can protect the rim. However, he is sorely lacking in other departments, and the Dubs are unlikely to waste their top pick privilege on him.

If not the draft, a trade has been suggested by critics. One involved Wiggins being sent off in exchange for Kevin Love of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Financially, the trade makes sense. In terms of player compliment, it pans out too. However, the age factor could make head coach Steve Kerr rethink a trade for the 31-year-old all-star despite the suggested trade by Grant Hughes of the Bleacher Report.

Love is 6 years older than Wiggins, meaning he is likely to be slowing down at some point. While the move could instantly help catapult the Dubs in being playoff contenders once more, it could be for a limited time. Worse, Love's tenure could end at about the same time that Curry, Thompson, and Green may call it quits since their ages are not that far apart.

Wiggins is only 25 and has room for development. Also, he is one of the rare players who at 6-foot-7 is agile and can play the shooting guard position. This was part of his development when he was still with the Timberwolves and results are now showing.

If he pans out, Wiggins could be the lone star for the Dubs once the original big three starts wearing down. He is also healthier and someone that Kerr can mold into something special. The Warriors coach has proven he can do that with other players in the past, most of whom are now gone and playing for other teams. It is a risk in some ways for the Dubs but a promising one. Wiggins is a former top pick and he did show with the T-Wolves he has talent. The only thing is proper guidance and Kerr looms as the perfect guy to guide him to stardom.
