Tennis superstar Serena Williams will talk about anything in this coronavirus lockdown. However, she won't speak a word about her best friend, Meghan Markle, even if it's Naomi Campbell who wants to know how she feels now that the Duchess of Sussex is back in the states.
While in a live chat with her sister, Venus Williams, and the supermodel, Serena had a lot to say about fashion, beauty and life at home during a quarantine. However, when Campbell asked Serena if she was happy that her best friend is now living in America, in the West Coast, the tennis champ played it coy and immediately shut down any attempt to talk about the duchess.
"Never seen it, never heard of her, don't know her," Serena said, per E! News. She laughed so hard because she alluded to the same lines Mariah Carey said when she was asked about her rivalry with Jennifer Lopez.
In January at the Australian Open, Serena was also asked about Meghan by the press but she once again didn't comment about her best friend. She simply told the reporter who wanted to know that he did well trying to get some information out of her but she will not absolutely comment on Meghan and her husband Prince Harry.
By this time Prince Harry and Meghan announced that they would like to step back from their royal life. Prince Harry was in the middle of making arrangements with Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles and Prince William, while Meghan flew to Vancouver, Canada.
Serena and Meghan have been friends for years and she was even at the royal wedding in 2018 with her husband, Alexis Ohanian. Meghan often watches her friend's tennis matches and she even flew to New York secretly to cheer on her friend for the U.S. Open in September 2019. Last summer, Meghan watched Serena play at the Wimbledon with her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, and Kate's sister, Pippa.
That summer, Serena openly praised Meghan for being a great friend through the high and low moments of her life. She said that she also wants to be the same way for Meghan -- to always be with her no matter what happens.
Both Meghan and Serena are first-time moms. The Duchess of Sussex's son, Archie, is turning one on May 6 while Serena's daughter, Alexis, named after her dad, is two years old.
