There are a lot of interesting storylines worth-exploring once Grey's Anatomy season 17 arrives on ABC. For instance, the next installment may further explore the relationship between Meredith and DeLuca, and whether or not they'll be together at some point.
It remains to be seen what's next for Meredith and DeLuca in Grey's Anatomy season 17, though their relationship proved to be fascinating in the previous installment. They haven't had more moments, but their bond could grow and develop moving forward.
DeLuca proved that he's not manic at all and right about several things -- although not everyone else listens and believes in him. While this doesn't guarantee he'll end up with Meredith, the closing moments of the two in the season 16 finale was promising.
Instead of going out on a casual hangout with Hayes, Meredith decided not to go and chose to spend some time comforting DeLuca after everything that happened. The scene fuelled speculations that they could be together at some point in Grey's Anatomy season 17.
In an interview with Deadline, showrunner Krista Vernoff didn't give much detail about the romantic future of Meredith and DeLuca, but there are still a lot of good things to look forward to. Vernoff notes she would be fascinated to see how that particular storyline emerges in the next season.
So, although nothing is confirmed at the moment, there's still hope for Meredith and DeLuca in the future. For now, DeLuca needs some time to heal, while Meredith needs to clear her head and figure this out. And perhaps, their relationship may emerge in an unexpected way.
Aside from the potential romance of Meredith and DeLuca, Grey's Anatomy season 17 will also bring big stories to other characters. For instance, Teddy's storyline could change in a huge way. Her wedding with Owen was called off, largely because of the voicemail about her being with Tom Koracick.
This is a complicated situation, something that should further be explored in the future. Meanwhile, Amelia and Link's baby's name will also be revealed in Grey's Anatomy season 17. The baby, however, will not be named Derek -- Amelia's late brother.
The official release date of Grey's Anatomy season 17 is yet to be revealed, though it will most likely arrive in fall 2020. And since season 16 halted its production due to the COVID-19 outbreak, some of the remaining episodes might be added in the next installment.
