The summer transfer window is shaping up as a busy period for Manchester United following reports that club boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is bent on signing up Harry Kane, Jack Grealish, and Jadon Sancho. It is the latter, however, that is the focus of the Norwegian and he is hoping the 20-year-old will be available at a more affordable price.

The asking price for the Britain international's transfer could be as high as £100 million, which is Borussia Dortmund saying that while Sancho is up for sale, he will not come cheap. In fact, the Bundesliga club is looking to keep the winger for another year or two so it can be assumed that the price is non-negotiable.

However, United seemed optimistic that further negotiations will lead to a significant price cut on the transfer fee. The Solskjaer side is hoping that with the expected financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic, Sancho's market value will reflect a more realistic figure.

According to Metro, United will pursue a deal with BVB and the former will push for a reduced price of up to £52 million. If the global health crisis will continue to disrupt the sporting business, the Premier League club is hoping that Sancho's price tag will be shaved off by half.

It would appear though that Dortmund's position on the matter has been set as top executive of the German team have indicated that releasing the goalscorer is not a priority at the moment.

Dortmund is adamant as well not to give a discount on the market value of the young striker, insistent that even with the pandemic in effect, players cannot be scooped up at a bargain price.

"I can explicitly say that even the very rich clubs, despite the existential crisis, should not believe that they can go on a bargain tour with us. We don't have to sell anyone below their value," Express reported Dortmund CEO Hans Joachim Watzke as saying.

And as if making clear that Sancho cannot be had for a pittance, Dortmund will reportedly give the winger a salary bump that could convince the British sensation to put off his plan of returning to England. If accepted, the offer will more than double Sancho's current annual pay with the club.

Sancho takes homes £3.5 million each year playing for BVB but the new pay package from the club will see him with an upgraded salary of £9 million.

Watzke said he pictures the rising Dortmund ace staying with the club for the following reasons: "We have enough money. We want to have titles. I think this team has a lot more potential with Jadon than without Jadon."

"I don't think he wants to leave. I think he has the feeling that this club has a good future," the club chief added.
