Princess Charlotte will be five years old on May 2 and her parents, Prince William and Kate Middleton, have arranged for a Zoom party since social gatherings are still discouraged. The party will also include great-grandparents Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip.
Sources revealed that Prince William and Kate will hold the Zoom call, a virtual video conferencing platform, so Princess Charlotte can speak to friends and family. There will be cakes and games as well, despite the challenges of an online party.
"[Princess Charlotte's] great-grandmother will be joining the family call on the big day," the source said. "As far as Charlotte is concerned, the important part is that her whole family are by her side to say: 'Happy Birthday.'"
Prince Philip is also joining the Zoom party for Princess Charlotte along with the rest of the royal family. According to reports, the Duke of Edinburgh is especially fond of the young princess because of her "mischievous streak." The Queen's husband loves the fact that Princess Charlotte has this spark about her that's very much also similar to Prince Philip.
At barely five, Princess Charlotte has the spunk that may likely earn her the royal rebel label. Just like her grand aunt, Princess Anne, Princess Charlotte is apparently sassy and may break royal protocols a number of times.
At Prince Louis' christening in 2018, Princess Charlotte apparently told reports waiting outside that they can't come. She also stuck out her tongue instead of waving at the crowd gathered outside at the King's Cup regatta.
The Cambridges are currently isolating in Anmer Hall in Norfolk due to the coronavirus lockdown. The Queen and Prince Philip, on the other hand, are a few miles away at Windsor Castle in Sandringham but they haven't seen any member of the royal family since the middle of March.
Like all the rest of the country, those over 70 years old are asked to limit their movements and isolate as much as possible as they are the most vulnerable to develop COVID-19. Prince William said in an interview on BBC that they are taking extra measures to protect the Queen's health as she is 94.
Meanwhile, the Cambridges also spent Prince Louis' birthday while in isolation. The young royal celebrated turning two years old on April 23 with just his immediate family but Kate shared photos she took of her son on social media. The Duchess of Cambridge will also likely share a new set of photos of Princess Charlotte for her birthday.
