Agents of SHIELD season 7 is scheduled to arrive later next month on ABC. There are a lot of exciting things coming in this new and final installment, as it may tie all the loose ends since the beginning. The latest promo also makes fans even more excited but confused at the same time.
Based on the promo of Agents of SHIELD season 7, LMD Coulson and the rest of the team will possibly save HYDRA. This organization has caused a lot of problems over the past years; they killed, betrayed, manipulated, and did a lot of evil. So, why the SHIELD needs to save HYDRA now?
According to CarterMatt, this may have something to do with the SHIELD and HYDRA being "intricately linked" as history goes. The team needs to identify the evil to understand how the save the people. In order to do that, they should save HYDRA first to understand what this organization does to the world.
The promo also teased the team needs to save the past to rescue the future. Perhaps, time-travel will still be essential in Agents of SHIELD season 7. We'll probably see the team visiting multiple eras, which is also a great opportunity to honor the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.
As for what else is coming in the series' final run, it has been confirmed that Enver Gjokaj will reprise his Agent Carter role, Daniel Sousa. The character was a Strategic Scientific Reserve agent, but the question is what would be his version in Agents of SHIELD season 7.
In season 6 finale, the team traveled back to the 1930s. However, Agent Carter was set several years later, so we'll probably see an earlier version of Sousa. Meanwhile, Gjokaj also told Entertainment Weekly he was surprised when the opportunity to appear in the series' final run was presented to him.
Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter both appeared on the same network but never had an actual crossover since they're set in a different time period. The former was set in the present, while the latter in the 1940s. But because of the time-travel story in the season finale, Sousa's appearance becomes possible.
The arrival of Sousa is just one of the big surprises of the new installment. Since this serves as the series finale, expect some twists and turns, as well as different stories. In the end, the series may deliver a proper endgame for most of the characters to have a satisfying conclusion.
