Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced back in January that they wish to step down as senior royals to focus more on their family and charities. Despite their shocking announcement, Buckingham Palace released a statement from Queen Elizabeth showing her support for the couple’s decision.

On March 31, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle officially stepped down from their roles and they headed to Los Angeles with their son Archie after briefly staying in Canada. Now, a new report claims that Queen Elizabeth is still open to welcome her grandson back if he decided to come home.

“I think she’s looking at Harry like the prodigal son, that he will come home and she will welcome him with open arms,” Majesty magazine editor Ingrid Seward said. “The one thing that she has really carried her through her long life is her Christianity and her deep religious beliefs, and one of the Christian teachings is forgiveness.”

Even though the Royal family members are “disappointed” with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision, Ingrid Seward believes that Queen Elizabeth would never criticize the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in public.

“I think she’s very loathed to criticize anything he’s doing,” she added. “Privately, she might feel very sad about it but she would never ever comment on it, even probably to her family. She would keep her feelings much to herself."

Ingrid Seward’s comment echoes a previous report. According to a US Weekly insider, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Harry’s talk back in March has cleared the air and Her Majesty even told her grandson that he’s welcome to come back to the Royal Family.

“The last thing Elizabeth wants is for Harry to feel estranged from his family and she made her feelings clear about this in the meeting,” the source said.

According to the report, it was the first time Queen Elizabeth and Prince Harry have seen each other in person in over a month. The Duke of Sussex held a meeting with Her Majesty at the time, which lasted for four hours.

Another source revealed that Queen Elizabeth was not too happy with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s withdrawal as the Royal Family would want to spend time with them, especially baby Archie. However, Her Majesty respects their decision and just assured them that they are always welcome to the family.
