Meredith Grey's love life is one of the most interesting storylines entering Grey's Anatomy season 17. The character has two potential love interests: Andrew DeLuca and Cormac Hayes. It looks like there could be a love triangle in the new installment and Ellen Pompeo's character may be put in a difficult situation.
Grey's Anatomy season 17 may feature the certain impacts of DeLuca and Hayes on Meredith. In terms of passion, DeLuca brings a lot on the table. He knows what he wants, yet there are only a few people who believe in him. This is a major concern most of season 16, though he was able to prove himself.
Hayes, on the other hand, has a lot more in common with Meredith. But then, it's yet to be seen whether or not they'll go along well moving forward. The two didn't spend more time together, but the next season may feature them being frequently together.
Speaking to TVLine, executive producer Krista Vernoff said she doesn't even know where this particular story is going to take the characters in Grey's Anatomy season 17. She revealed that she's at the point where she didn't know who she's rooting for.
Vernoff explained that DeLuca is rising to a level of "dark and twisty and life experience" that somehow makes him a mature partner for Meredith. Yet, Hayes has been through his life and that already makes him her equal. The executive producer then she's delighted having such a "conundrum."
Although there are still a lot of uncertainties when it comes to Meredith's love life, the season 16 finale seemingly hinted what's next for her. She held back on spending time with Hayes, and instead, she decided to be with DeLuca. Yet, that doesn't guarantee anything in the future.
Meanwhile, Grey's Anatomy season 17 will also explore other characters' stories. For instance, Teddy's life may change in a huge way, given that her wedding with Owen was called off. The ceremony has been canceled because of a voicemail about her being with Tom Koracick.
In addition, the baby name of Amelia and Link may also be revealed in the upcoming installment. But, it looks like the baby wouldn't be named after Amelia's late brother, Derek. These are just some of the interesting storylines in the new season.
As for the official release date of Grey's Anatomy season 17, nothing is confirmed at the moment. Yet, there's a possibility it will arrive some time in fall 2020. The previous season also halted its production, so the remaining episodes that weren't filmed might be featured in the upcoming installment.
