Amid the unending stories of his imminent departure from Old Trafford, Paul Pogba has been advised to make his exit move and do it the soonest. Word is the Frenchman could be in Italy or Spain by next season, and if that would be the case, it will be good for the Red Devils and Pogba himself.
Former United defender Rio Ferdinand thought the deluge of criticisms directed at the midfielder was uncalled for. He advised Pogba that getting out in the summer will be a wise move for the beleaguered Frenchman.
Pogba has been the subject of attacks from news reports in England. He has only played seven games in the suspended season due to injury woes, but the media in the country scored him for off-pitch activities.
The 27-year-old has been seen attending events in different cities around the world while in rehabilitation mode. At the same time, he tried in the last two summers to trigger his exit from United, prompting a wave of criticisms that, according to Ferdinand, was undeservedly trained at Pogba.
"If I'm him and I've been treated the way he has with the media ... I'd be saying, I don't need this in my life," Metro reported the United legend as saying.
He added: "I think it's unfair some of the criticism he gets and some of that is based on social media presence which I think is ridiculous."
Ferdinand recalled that during his time, players were engaged in activities far worse than the things that the media said Pogba was guilty of. Needless to say, these players did not generate the same level of controversies attributed to Pogba, partly due to the absence of social media platforms at that time.
That is why the United legend is calling on Pogba: "There's more to life than coming here and getting criticized when he's not even playing."
Adding his voice to the discussion, former Juventus star Claudio Marchisio said the rumored move back to the Italian giants would prove a good thing for the injury-plagued Pogba.
"I hope he returns, because it'd be good for both parties. He already knows Serie A, would increase the quality in a squad that is formidable anyway," Mirror reported the former player for Old Lady as saying.
Marchisio added that it was a mistake on Pogba's part to leave Juventus, to begin with. The midfielder switched sides in 2016, and the move to Old Trafford proved unfavorable for the most part as after only two seasons with United, he started to make transfer plans.
The last two summers of trying to join Juventus or Real Madrid could be extended this year as the coronavirus pandemic is said to make for an uncertain transfer market in the summer break.
