Diddy has been involved in politics since he began his "Vote or Die" campaign in 2004. As the 2020 presidential election in the United States is nearly coming, the 50-year-old star revealed Black people should get something in exchange of their votes, subtly showing his support to Donald Trump.
In a tweet, the famed rapper said, "the black vote will not be free this year." Diddy also uploaded his conversation with Naomi Campbell while talking about the reason why Black Americas should demand more from the presidential candidates today.
"The Black vote is not going to be for free," he told the iconic model. He explained that sure they would hear more promises, but questioning what would they get in return for their vote. He also claimed that nothing has changed for Black America yet, Complex noted.
So, for them to vote for Joe Biden, they shouldn't feel taken for granted because they needed to be Democrats to get attention, or people are afraid of Donald Trump. Diddy also advised Black voters to consider the election as a business transaction, and the former vice president of Barack Obama should make it clear that he's committed to change the lives of African Americans before he could have their vote.
The "I'll Be Missing You" hitmaker knew that they couldn't trick politicians, so he wanted Joe Biden to make it clear that he would change the lives and quality of life of Black and brown people. He also warned that if he didn't do this, he would never get his vote and hold it hostage if he had to. He even compared the presidential hopeful to how Donald Trump made it clear that he wanted to build a wall.
Although Diddy seemed to have a good intention in his statements, it didn't sit well to a lot of people, especially in the way the current U.S. President handles the COVID-19 pandemic in the country. According to Celebrity Insider, it was an irresponsible thing for the singer-songwriter to do and everything he said was too late.
He should've talked about it during the primaries, and holding Black people's vote is like giving it to Donald Trump easily. "What change is that going to bring," the fan asked. Another one added that people had to vote and give it to Joe Biden, explaining that it's the only option they have as not voting is a "s****d" thing to do.
