At the moment, NBC hasn't yet officially announced the renewal status of Manifest season 3. Despite that, many were optimistic the series is coming back to deliver stories and new mysteries. What happened in the previous season also hinted that there's more to this series.

Although nothing is certain when it comes to Manifest season 3, viewers remain hopeful regarding its future. In terms of ratings, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the series is one of the biggest midseason programs when it comes to percentage gains in both live+7 and live+35 figures.

This means that while viewers are still watching it live, many will store the episodes up and binge them later on. Reportedly, the series is in a very high spot among other midseason series for several weeks when it comes to DVR gains. So while the live figures may be down, DVR still matters.

NBC may consider this factor in continuing the series and renew Manifest season 3. According to CarterMatt, what the network needs to do now is to convert the DVR viewers to live viewers. While this is challenging, they also recognize that the series performs better than their other scripted series.

Perhaps, the renewal announcement might be revealed at some point this month. But considering the current global health crisis, there could be some delays. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some series halted their production, and that may also happen to some renewal announcements.

Meanwhile, the second installment left some huge cliffhangers worth-exploring in the potential Manifest season 3. A new mystery for Flight 828 passengers unfolds in the season 2 finale, leaving viewers shocked as the plane not only existed in the land, but also in the ocean.

This is quite odd given that the plane landed and then exploded on land during the pilot episode. But now, its tail fin has been found in the ocean, adding more confusion. This also raises a question as to whether the passengers are dead or alive.

That's one of the biggest mysteries that will be explored if ever Manifest season 3 will be renewed. But aside from that, some personal stories are also coming to other characters. For instance, the potential new season may explore the status of Michaela and Jared.

Although Michaela's now married to Zeke, who managed to survive in the season 2 finale, her relationship with Jared needs to be addressed as well. Showrunner Jeff Rake told TVLine that the upcoming installment is about "rehabilitating the relationship between Michaela and Jared."

The two will challenge themselves by being "friends without benefits." Rake said Michaela and Jared will try to have the strength and disciple so that their relationship will evolve. They may not be involved romantically, but they can still rekindle their friendship.
