After weeks of surpassing its own ratings record and breaking the records set by Crash Landing on You and Itaewon Class, The World of the Married finally became the most-watched Korean drama in cable network history.

According to the survey conducted by Nielsen Korea, the latest episode scored an average rating of 24.33 percent nationwide, surpassing the record set by another JTBC drama, Sky Castle for 23.78 percent from its finale episode in 2019.

It can be recalled that The World of the Married has been steadily nipping at the heels of its predecessor for the last couple of weeks as scenes in the drama intensified with more action, scandal and drama.

The production also announced that the show's remaining episodes will all be rated 19+ owing to the intense scenes that will close out the story of estranged couple Ji Sun Woo (Kim Hee Ae) and Lee Tae Oh (Park Hae Joon).

In the second half of the drama, the couple has already divorced and parted for two years when Tae Oh and his new wife Yeo Da Kyung return to wreak havoc on the life of Sun Woo and her son.

The production team promised that moving forward, they decided to rate the remaining episodes 19+ so that they may effectively convey the story of these characters on screen.

"We will humbly listen to the concerns raised about the broadcasts so far and deliberate on the remaining production process. We would like to express our deep gratitude to the viewers who love The World of the Married and ask for your continued support and love," The World of the Married producers promised.

For the upcoming 13th episode,  things become more complicated between Sun Woo and Tae Oh as their feelings become entangled anew. However, the main problem between the couple will be how to deal with their son Joon Young, who is suffering from kleptomania.

In addition to the issue, Da Kyung has also revealed that she is considering sending the teenager to an international boarding school. Meanwhile, Sun Woo considers leaving town altogether but remains worried if her ex-husband can take care of their son well in her absence.

With The World of the Married's latest record, it only trails TV Chosun's audition program Mr. Trot, who holds the record for being the most-watched cable show which peaked at 35.7 percent in March.
