After surpassing the ratings of its predecessor, Itaewon Class, JTBC's The World of the Married also broke the record of recent hit Crash Landing on You. It is also on its way to becoming the highest rated cable show in the history of Korea.

According to a report by Hello Kpop, Nielsen Korea released the ratings for the 10th episode which aired on April 25. It showed The World of the Married raking in ratings of 22.9 percent nationwide and 25.9 percent in the Seoul Metropolitan area.

In a few short weeks, The World of the Married broke the record set by Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin's Crash Landing on You which brought in 21.7 percent viewership ratings for its final and most anticipated episode.

While it may have broken the cable rating record for Seoul, The World of the Married still trails Sky Castle in terms of nationwide rating record. Sky Castle peaked at 23.7 percent for its highest-rated episode in 2019. This means that The World of the Married is less than one point away from breaking the record set by the previous JTBC show.

Apart from the exciting storyline, The World of the Married's success is largely credited to the amazing portrayals of reel screen adversaries Kim Hee Ae and rising actress Han So Hee.

It turns out that Kim Hee Ae is actively distancing herself from her co-star Han So Hee and Park Hae Joon to effectively portraying her role as the shunned wife.

"So Hee is so polite and pretty, and I like her. But I'm trying to keep my distance. So that I can properly immerse myself in my character's emotion. It's intentional on my part but I'm keeping my distance from Park Hae Joon and Han So Hee. Because I don't want to lose the emotion [of my character]," she said in an interview.

Professionally, she praised her younger co-star for her passion and skills in acting. She said that she will not be surprised is Han So Hee soars even higher in her future career because of her beauty and talent.

Meanwhile, Lee Min Ho's drama The King: Eternal Monarch was well received by fans who were awaiting his comeback.

However, there was a slight drop in the ratings of the fantasy love story for its second week. Based on the survey, the show's April 24 broadcast raked in 7.8 and 9.0 percent for its two parts. It picked up to 8.0 percent and 9.7 percent for its April 25 broadcast.
