Meghan Markle doesn't want negativity in her life and she imbibes this not just in her mindset but also in her fashion choices. She was recently seen wearing a necklace that supposedly wards off the negative vibes, according to the jeweler who designed the piece.
The Duchess of Sussex was wearing the necklace during a video conference call with a young woman whom she was mentoring for Smart Works. The jewelry was not hard to notice because the gold pendant had an evil eye design, which was capped off with a single blue stone.
"The necklace bears a blue topaz evil eye to protect its wearer from negative energies," said the designer c, per People. "I wear mine every day, and it has certainly helped me translate negative energies into positive vibes."
Ong is the founder and owner of Edge of Ember, a London-based jewelry store. She is of Singaporean descent and some of her pieces are Asian-inspired. She said that it's common in their culture to wear symbolic jewelry to remind those in the modern world of the sensibilities of the ancient times.
According to her website, the evil eye pendant worn by Meghan is usually found in Asian vintage coins. Talismans believe that the evil eye symbol brings good fortune for anyone carrying or wearing it.
This was not the first time the Duchess of Sussex wore symbolical jewelry in public. According to Page Six, Meghan also wore a pair of necklaces for her Good Morning America interview in April that represent Prince Harry and her son, Archie.
In 2018, Meghan was apparently also wearing the evil eye power necklace during her tour of South Africa with the Duke of Sussex. She also wore a symbolic necklace during the final days of her royal tour in March.
Incidentally, Meghan need all the good vibes she can get as she has a court battle with the British tabloid press. According to Deadline, a London judge has ruled that her lawsuit against Associated Newspapers will continue but some parts of her claims have been removed.
Specifically, the judge tossed out her allegations that the negative story printed about her against her father, Thomas Markle, caused their rift and estrangement. The judge ruled that this allegation had nothing to do with her other claims of breach of privacy.
However, the judge also said that portions of the dismissed allegations may still be revisited if the case actually goes into trial. If Meghan has to stand in court one day, she will also likely face-off with her dad, whom she has not seen or made contact with since their estrangement in 2018.
