Following Mike Pence's statements on Tuesday about the future of the Coronavirus Task Force, Donald Trump seemingly clarified the reports as to what will happen with the group headed by the US Vice President. Instead of its previously reported plans to "wind down," the task force will, reportedly, shift its focus on "safety" and the reopening of the United States.

According to The Hill, Mike Pence told reporters earlier this week that the task force that he has spearheaded "may break up" around Memorial Day. While the day is set on May 25, reports noted that the VP's timeline ranges from the latter days of May and the early days of June. It was also pointed out that this has been the timeline that he "cited" in previous statements that the "worst" of COVID-19 will have passed.

The speculations over the reported "disbanding" of the Coronavirus Task Force have caught the attention of many individuals. Aside from the attention, it has obtained several criticisms from health officials and the public as they have, reportedly, deemed it "premature."

It is like "disbanding a war cabinet" amid a war," Lawrence Gostin, a Georgetown University professor of public health, shared. He also added that the country's trend on COVID-19 cases has not been even on a downward trend.

While the publication noted that this has appeared that Donald Trump is already taking steps to "turn the page" from the pandemic crisis, the US President spoke about the matter the day after. With the use of his social media account, he seemingly cleared out the matter.

In a series of tweets, Donald Trump made it known that the Coronavirus Task Force, headed by Vice President Mike Pence, "has done a fantastic job." He initially went on to specify all the "achievements" of the said group in fighting the pandemic crisis in the United States.

Following the credentials, the incumbent President then went on to clarify the White House's plans for the Task Force. He shared that "because of this success," the Coronavirus Task Force "will continue on indefinitely."

Donald Trump also continued to explain that the focus of the group will move on to the "safety" of the public and the country's reopening plans and efforts. He then said that "vaccines" and "therapeutics" will be included in this "focus."

While he has not shared anything about the specifications of these plans to "focus," he revealed that the Coronavirus Task Force may either "add or subtract" members, "as appropriate."
