In the trailer of Yellowstone season 3, Kevin Costner's John Dutton starts saying he made a promise to protect, care, and love his home and he can't break that promise. The new installment sees John's ranch facing new chaos and threat and he's determined to save and protect it at any cost.
The Dutton family has been operating their homes for generations, but there are powerful people who will try to take it away from them. One of their biggest threats this season is Lost alum Josh Holloway's character, Roarke Carter.
Holloway's Roarke is a new character in Yellowstone season 3, and he's described as a "handsome, charming, shaggy-haired hedge fund manager." He has an ambitious plan in Montana, which is building an airport and a city in the heart of the Yellowstone.
Roarke is a new threat for the Duttons and he's willing to do whatever he can just to get what he wants. He has in own ways, and the trailer has already shown his clear plans for the area. Yet, John also does his best to protect his home, as well as his family.
It's apparent that huge changes are coming to the ranch and the Duttons. There could also be chaos within the family, which will likely playout for the rest of the season. Despite that, all of them have one clear goal: to protect and save the ranch. Thus, they need to fight for what they believe in.
But aside from the chaos and threat, Yellowstone season 3 may also address other stories. For instance, it remains to be seen whether or not Beth and Rip's relationship will continue moving forward. Another question is whether or not John's children will finally find their place in the world.
Meanwhile, the good news is that Yellowstone season 3 would not be the final one as Paramount Network also renewed the series for a fourth installment. The series is one of the most successful shows in terms of ratings, so it only makes sense the network wants to further continue the story.
