Paul Pogba could still be toying with the idea of playing for Juventus again and the Italian giants have indicated they want the Frenchman back. However, the chance is higher that the Manchester United star will remain at Old Trafford because of the Old Lady's money problems.

Top clubs in Europe are dealing with financial pressure due to the loss of revenues, and no thanks to the coronavirus pandemic that halted the games since March. This is the exact situation of Juventus. The club has been working to hire back Pogba and doing that has become even more impossible.

According to Gabriele Marcotti, the Turin giants are short of cash at the moment, and hiring the World Cup winner again would be hard to make a priority. United has demanded that any sides wanting to sign the injury-plagued must be prepared to pay the price - to the tune of £100 million in transfer fee.

The Sun reported that Juventus executives are aware that the cost of signing the midfielder will not stop on the transfer fee alone. The Italian club will have to assume Pogba's contract with the Red Devils and his weekly pay will not be cheap so Juventus may just pass up on the player for now.

"I think everything is on hold until they get a clear picture of finances and Pogba is happy at United. He would be happier at a United team that was competing for the title," said Marcotti, whom the report described as a football expert in the European competitions.

The analyst added: "I don't see Juventus making this work, unless Cristiano retires or something, which obviously would be bad for other reasons."

Meanwhile, former United star Jaap Stam called on Pogba to ignore the controversies generated by his rumored exit and stick with the Red Devils. In doing so, the doubters will be proven wrong, the former club defender said.

It would be best for Pogba, who still has two years to go with the English club, to keep playing with United and fight for his place, Stam added.

"I would love to see Paul stay because I think he's a quality player ... Pogba is a player who is creative, who wants to play a little bit in his own way, and sometimes you need to give him that little bit of freedom," Metro reported the United hero as saying.

Stam said he looks forward to the spectacle of Pogba teaming up with United's rising star such as Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay.

"If you look at Fernandes, Pogba, and McTominay, I think those three together in midfield could be very interesting," the United legend pointed out.
