The Mandalorian season 2 is officially coming on Disney+ and there's good news when it comes to some new additions in the latest installment. It has been confirmed that a Clone Wars character is set to appear once the new season arrives.

Deadline previously reported that Katee Sackhoff is one of the newest additions in the upcoming The Mandalorian season 2. The actress will reprise her role Bo-Katan Kryze in Clone Wars. This is a rare move since voice actors don't often get to play their character in the live-action.

Bo-Katan made her first appearance in recently-concluded Clone Wars season 4. She is one of the significant characters in the plotline involving the Darksaber in both Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. The latter series saw Sabin Wren handing over the Darksaber to Bo-Katan to bring the Mandalorians together.

In The Mandalorian season 1 finale, the Darksaber is now in the hands of villain Moff Gideon. This fuelled speculations that the Darksaber storyline will further continue in The Mandalorian season 2. Also, in addition to Sackhoff, Rosario Dawson will reportedly play the live-action version of former Jedi Ahsoka Tano.

Meanwhile, The Mandalorian season 2 was able to finish its filming before the real-life health crisis hits the globe. It's very likely the production film managed to get to work on the next stage of the series. But then, it should be noted that the release date remains uncertain at the moment.

CarterMatt noted it may come back by the end of the year or as long as everything goes back to normal. Right now, there's no indication that things would slow down anytime soon, so there could be potential changes in the premiere date.

And while The Mandalorian season 2 is yet to be released, its future on Disney+ seems to be certain. The series is currently one of the biggest originals in the streaming service. Moreover, the series still has a lot to offer story-wise, so the platform may want to deliver more stories in the future.

Beyond the second installment, many were also optimistic that season 3 is coming. There's no official renewal announcement as of yet, but executive producer Jon Favreau seemed to be confident about the future of the show.

In a report via Variety, a source claims Favreau is writing the story of the third installment now. Reportedly, the team has started pre-production and looking into further adventures for season 3. Still, the decision is all up to Disney+ and the announcement might be made after the second installment premieres.
