WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for For Life season 1 finale. Read at your own risk.

For Life season 1 finale aired Tuesday night on ABC and it delivered some twists and turns to Aaron Wallace's life and future. The episode saw the character doing his best to get his retrial to prove his innocence and clear his name.

In For Life season 1 finale, Aaron managed to present his case to a judge. He worked hard to show the corruption involving Maskins. It's also strange that the people who worked on his case mysteriously disappear. While there are a lot of problems, he still managed to present his own case.

The judge found out that there were several pieces of evidence suggesting that the office of the District Attorney made numerous errors and they're deliberately targeting Aaron. Although he didn't get the perfect result, he still had the chance to have the proper retrial that he deserves.

For Life season 1 finale also delivered a personal story for Aaron. Jasmine had her baby and that only means he's now a grandfather. Throughout the season, Aaron has been trying to prove to everyone his innocence, and a story of him being a grandfather seemed to be refreshing.

However, there's still a concern at the moment. Although Aaron had the chance to have a retrial, it seems like something bad is going to happen at some point. Considering Maskins' election, he would probably need this to go away.

In the closing minutes of For Life season 1 finale, Maskins confronted Aaron. He warned him about what happened with Marie, in which she tried to get information on Lexi. This is considered a HIPPA violation and Maskins will do everything to blackmail him.

Yet, Maskins still offered Aaron clemency, which is the best thing he could give him. He'd be heading home and spend time with his family in six months. While this offer means he got his freedom, there's still a concern moving forward.

Aaron has to make a wise decision. He's stuck in a dangerous spot and there's no guarantee that there is a way out. After all, Maskins is one of the worst characters in this world. This is a huge cliffhanger, something that may be explored in the future.

Right now, however, ABC hasn't yet renewed For Life for a second season. In terms of ratings, CarterMatt reported the finale generated a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.9 million viewers. Reportedly, this is the largest audience since the series airs its first episode.
