BTS is the biggest boy group on the planet right now. RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook have been selling out tours and breaking record after record.
Despite their unstoppable success, BTS has always been realistic. They are very much aware that fame is temporary, which is why the boys are enjoying their current success as much as they can.
In Episode 1 of BTS’s new docuseries, Break The Silence, Jungkook pondered on something interesting. Toward the end of the episode, the BTS star was listening to some old BTS songs and suddenly wondered what will happen if he grows old.
“Later, when I’m not as famous as I am now and turn into an old man, I wonder who will still be around, when I’m an old man…” Jungkook said.
What made the scene emotional is that Jungkook appeared to have accepted the fact that BTS’ fame will not be the same forever. So instead of getting sad about it, the “Euphoria” singer was more interested in knowing what the fans thought about them.
“I’d really like to have a conversation with ARMY and ask, how were we back then?” he said. “Were we amazing then? What were we like as an individuals and ordinary people?”
ARMYs quickly took to Twitter to assure Jungkook and the rest of the BTS members that they are in this fandom forever. Even if BTS’s fame will fade someday, ARMYs promised that they will continue supporting them.
“’I wonder who would still be with me when I'm an old man’” — JJK 2020. JUNGKOOK WE'RE ON THIS BANGTAN SONYEONDAN SH*T FOR LIFE,” one wrote. “I'll be there for each and every one of them till infinity if that's the end,” another one tweeted. “We will be with you JK and don't forget, we love you!!!” one shared. “If only they knew how much we love them,” one ARMY noted.
Meanwhile, footage from the BTS 2020 Winter Package showed Jungkook reading his letter to ARMYs and he quickly became emotional. The singer, songwriter, and record producer tried to tough it out and even smiled at his members while they were teasing him when they noticed how red his ears were. RM then said, “His letter was the most sincere” — and that’s all it took for him to finally burst into tears.
It’s no secret that BTS treasures ARMYs so much. While other celebrities see their fans as people who idolize them, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook see ARMYs as their friends. They sometimes even take things to the next level and say that ARMYs are the love of their lives.
