In another report, Rob Brown's character Edgar Reade has met his ultimate demise during the premiere of the series' final run. The character died because of the explosion that happened in the previous installment. His death was unexpected, but there's also a reason why he has to say goodbye.
Series creator Martin Gero told TVLine there are "business" and "creative" reasons as to why Brown's Reade has to depart. He said the business reasons have started driving the conversation, which leads to creative reasons and choosing who among the characters need to bid farewell.
Gero explained that as the season progresses, viewers may understand why Reade has to go. His death opens more stories moving forward, something that may not happen is someone else died. The good thing is that Brown will still appear in the series even though his character is already dead.
The series creator teased Reade will occasionally appear on flashbacks. Perhaps, his memory will be honored and the flashbacks could bring more interesting stories for him. Still, his death has impacted most of the characters, especially Zapata.
Reade and Zapata didn't get the happy ending that they deserve. They've gone through a lot, even before the explosion. Zapata will be dealing with the aftermath of Reade's death and Gero teased they're doing something interesting with her storyline.
Blindspot season 5 episode 3 airs on Thursday night, May 28, on NBC.
