Prince William has a huge, envy-inducing net worth. Aside from the fact that he is a member of the royal family, he is also set to be the future king. With that, his already huge asset is about to get bigger soon.
Prince William will even get richer when he becomes the new king of England. In addition to his current value, more will be added when he sits on the throne. Here is a breakdown of it.
The Queen Mother, Queen Elizabeth II's mother, placed two-thirds of her money, about £19 million, into a trust fund for her great-grandchildren, Prince Harry included, in 1994. According to The Guardian, the royal brothers split about £6 million of this amount when they turned 21.
However, it was not a pair split. Why? It was because the Queen Mother wanted to compensate the Duke of Sussex for not being a "sovereign."
Prince William and Prince Harry also shared another £8 million from the trust fund when they turned 40. The remaining £6 million fortune that the Queen Mother left would be given to their cousins, who are farther down the line of succession.
When their mother, Princess Diana, died in 1997, she left her sons $10 million after taxes, Forbes noted. Kate Middleton's husband started receiving annual dividends of $450,000 a year when he turned 25, and it was up to him what to do with that huge amount of money.
As a fulltime working royal, the 37-year-old Duke of Cambridge and his wife's expenses were all covered by the Sovereign Grant, the taxpayer's money which pays the royal family's official duties. So, he never spends even a single dime of his money for it, Cosmopolitan reported.
In addition, Prince William is also set to inherit a big fortune from his father, Prince Charles, and grandmother, Queen Elizabeth. He will inherit the Duchy of Cornwall, several properties, and other financial investments, currently owned by the Prince of Wales, which are used to fund the royal family.
Per Marie Claire, when he becomes the king, he will also inherit all the things that belong to Queen Elizabeth, like her $10 billion property investments, the Royal Art Collection, and the annual salary from the British government, which is about £10 million.
If that is not enough, he may also get Queen Elizabeth's $500 million fortune, including her jewelry, expensive stamp collection, and farms. Currently, Prince William's net worth is $40 million, and this will dramatically increase when he gets everything that he is about to inherit.
