Outlander season 6 is happening on Staz, though viewers may need to wait for a while for its arrival due to the current global health crisis. But despite the potential delay, it seems like some works are being done now -- including cast reading A Breath of Snow and Ashes, which is the source material this season.

Speaking to Elle, Sam Heughan, who plays Jamie Frasers, discussed what viewers can expect in the upcoming Outlander season 6. He revealed that he honestly doesn't know what's coming as of yet, though he's halfway through the books.

Heughan also said he reads a couple of episodes and he's excited to discuss with the writers and other producers where the story would take them. But right now, everything is obstructed because of the situation, but he said they're still working away.

The actor noted that within the next few months, they're going to firm up things including the storylines, scripts, as well as the schedule. They're taking a step-by-step approach to make it happen and could start filming, which may start before the year ends or as long as the real-life health crisis gets better.

When asked whether there would be more action sequences coming in Outlander season 6, Heughan teased there's a war coming. He said that they've always done well when it comes to such sequences, adding that it's one of his strongest points in the series.

Heughan also said the first thing he's going to do when they get back filming is to give everyone a big hug if he's allowed to do it. While the break has been good for them to regroup, he said it's still fun to see everyone back on set.

As for what else is coming in Outlander season 6, Claire's storyline may further continue. The new installment will likely follow the aftermath of the brutal attack that she suffered in the season 5 finale. She may not recover from it easily, even though her attackers are now dead.

Moving forward, Claire needs time, patience, as well as the constant support of people around her. In a report via Variety, executive producer Matthew B. Roberts said they'll deal with the aftermath of the tragedy. Even there's a time jump, this is a storyline that wouldn't just suddenly vanish.

Meanwhile, series star Lauren Lyle also teased TVLine that big stories are coming for Marsali and Fergus after everything that transpired in season 5 finale. Something may happen with these two in Outlander season 6, and they'll be in a totally different situation that wasn't shown before.
