Grey's Anatomy season 17 is officially coming on ABC, yet there are still a lot of uncertainties when it comes to its future. While it could premiere in the fall, there's a chance the series may choose an alternative direction and change the release date.

Because of the potential delay, the main question here is how will Grey's Anatomy season 17 addressed some of the remaining scenes in the previous installment. A lot of things also happened in its spin-off Station 19 and the events that happened here may have impacted the flagship show.

Grey's Anatomy season 17 may not be able to jump back where it left off with the season 16 finale. Some stories may now be moved, while some could shift in a different direction. However, other stories are still needed to be addressed.

The series has to tell the remaining stories left in the past, but also need to jump and tell some stories in the present. In an interview with E! News, showrunner Krista Vernoff has something to say when it comes to that particular subject.

Vernoff said they can't just pick up what they had planned for the finale and make it as a premiere episode. She explained they'll take what's going to be episode 1622 and will keep some of the storylines. However, their major challenge is finding a way to turn it into a premiere episode.

Premieres and finales are completely different, so there could be changes in some of the storylines entering the new season. Perhaps, Grey's Anatomy season 17 mixes present-day stories which some flashbacks. This is a good way to bring closure and deliver new stories at the same time.

Meanwhile, Meredith Grey's love life may also be explored in Grey's Anatomy season 17. Based on what happened in the season 16 finale, she has two potential love interests: Cormac Hayes and Andrew DeLuca. Both men could impact her life in some ways.

Hayes and Meredith have a lot more in common. The previous installment, however, didn't show them spending more time together. DeLuca, on the other hand, has a lot on the table when it comes to passion. Meredith also chose to comfort him in season 16 finale, rather than going out with Hayes.

Other interesting storylines in the new season also include the aftermath of what happened with Teddy. Her life may change in a huge way now that her wedding with Owen has been canceled. The ceremony was called off due to the voicemail about her being with Tom Koracick.
