Prince Charles will soon become the King of the United Kingdom. When the Queen passes away or chooses to abdicate, the first person in line to the British Throne will automatically ascend as the Head of the British Monarchy.

The current line of succession is comprised of all the members of the British Royal Family. This means it also includes the descendants of Princess Margaret, the Queen's late sister.

While the chance of these royals to become the next King or Queen is very slim, some of them still have royal titles. But, this might, reportedly, change when the Prince of Wales becomes King.

According to Express UK, it is common knowledge already that Prince Charles has always expressed his desire to "slim down" the British Monarchy. While it remains unknown how he would do this, recent reports suggest that he might "abolish" the royal titles of some members, especially if they are not direct heirs of Queen Elizabeth II.

As explained, the Prince of Wales is the only "direct heir" of the British Monarch, hence, the title, "Heir Apparent." Following him, his firstborn son, Prince William, stands in the second spot in line for the Throne. He is then followed by his children, the Princes and Princess of Cambridge, George, Charlotte, and Louis.

Technically, they are the so-called direct heirs of the Queen. So, if Prince Charles will proceed with the abolishing of the royal titles, the rest of the British Roya Family will no longer have the HRH style.

Aside from the title and style, the "indirect heirs" will also no longer participate in doing royal works. This means, only a few British Royals would be entitled to the funding from the Sovereign Grant.

The publication continued to explain that if Prince Charles would decide to push through with the total slimming down, he may pattern his movements to some European royal families. As it happened, the Swedish Royal Family just recently removed royal titles from some members of their family.

In a report released by BBC, King Carl XVI Gustaf decided to remove five of his grandchildren from the royal house. Upon the removal, the five royals no longer have the royal highness titles. Also, they are no longer, reportedly, expected to do official royal duties.

Despite the move, though, they have, reportedly, remained members of the Swedish Royal Family. Moreover, they also retained their dukedoms.
