Agents of SHIELD season 7 is arriving next week on ABC, with the premiere episode titled "The New Deal." The latest sneak peek of the upcoming episode features some of the characters dealing with new problems -- especially now that they're in the Great Depression era.
The previous installment sent the agents back to 1931 New York City. So, entering Agents of SHIELD season 7, there'll be a new setting, as well as a new set of adventures. While there's a possibility they can change the past, they also recognize some of their actions could impact the present and the future.
The sneak peek features Mack, Daisy, Deke, and the LMD copy of Coulson roaming around the Great Depression, which they understand to be a different world. They traveled to this era because A.I. species Chronicoms wanted to take over the Earth and the only way to stop them is to time travel to the past.
However, it doesn't mean everything would be easy for them as they recognize a lot of problems are coming along the way. For Daisy, she revealed that she's particularly worried about the butterfly effect and Deke has some explanation for that matter.
Deke's explanation is linear with the traditional time-travel rule, wherein changes in the past could impact the future. His "time-stream theory" makes sense; throwing a few sticks in the stream and the steam would still get the same location while throwing a lot of sticks means they get the picture.
But the problem is that they may not find this information useful, at least at first. Along the way, the agents realize what Deke said actually makes sense. They have to do whatever they can because if they fail, it could bring huge consequences to the past, present, and future.
Meanwhile, Never Have I Ever star Darren Barnet is set to guest star in the premiere of Agents of SHIELD season 7. His role wasn't yet revealed, but the agents will encounter Barnet's character in 1931 New York City. It's not yet clear how many episodes he'll be seen, though he could impact the universe.
Patton Oswalt will also be appearing in the premiere episode. The actor has played multiple members of the Koenig family, but his role this time is yet to be revealed. Perhaps, he'll be playing once again one of the members of the family -- possibly the first one who joined the agents.
Agents of SHIELD season 7 premieres on Wednesday night, May 27, on ABC.
