It has been confirmed earlier this year that Skeet Ulrich is leaving The CW's Riverdale. At the time of the announcement, the reason for his departure wasn't revealed. But now, the actor shed some light as to why he decided to leave the series and his character, FP Jones.

In a recent Instagram Live with partner Megan Blake Irwin, Ulrich shared the reason for his exit in Riverdale. He said that he's leaving the series because he "got bored creatively," adding that it's the most honest answer for his departure.

Ulrich's FP, Cole Sprouse's Jughead father, has been part of the series since the first season. But there have been a lot of changes over the past years, which lead to the actor deciding on leaving the show. Despite that, we're still going to see his character appearing in the new season.

Ulrich is set to come back in the fifth installment of Riverdale to wrap up his story. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the series halted its production and wasn't able to show FP's exit. When the new season returns, it will address all the remaining stories -- including Ulrich's departure.

Marisol Nichols will also be leaving her character in Riverdale. She plays the role of Camila Mendes' Veronica Lodge mother, Hermione. Both Ulrich and Nichols announced their exit back in February, confirming they won't be series regulars in season 5.

In a report via TVLine, executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa confirmed Ulrich and Nichols are coming back in season 5 to finish their arc. He said they wanted to give the characters a great send-off, as they've been part of the show since the beginning. He also confirmed neither of the characters will die.

Meanwhile The CW is holding its new and returning series until next year because of the real-life health crisis. Riverdale will likely return for its fifth installment in January 2021. The new season follows the characters' final days at Riverdale High and then a time-jump through their college years.

Riverdale season 5 may premiere with big events such as prom and graduation. The unaired season 4's episode 21 and 22 are, reportedly, "big" and "emotional." Perhaps, we're going to see the prom and graduation ceremony here, which are big events for the students of Riverdale High.

After this, we're going to see the teens moving one with their lives and starting college. There will be a time-jump, but not immediately. Since there are still stories that needed to be addressed, this event may happen in the middle of the season.
