The Alienist season 2 is finally arriving on TNT, as the network has just previously confirmed its release date. The series has been off-air since 2018, so many were delighted with it's come back. What's more exciting here is that the show will be delivering more stories once it returns.
TNT confirmed The Alienist season 2 will premiere on Sunday, July 26 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern. Its arrival comes one week after the season 1 finale of the already-renewed Snowpiercer. Thus, the series will be airing for most of the summer.
The Alienist season 2 has been renewed for quite some time now. Back in August 2018, TNT ordered the second installment which is based on the follow-up novel titled The Angel of Darkness, which could also have 10 episodes as well -- just like the first season.
The Alienist season 2 features the evolution from the first installment, though it would still include some of the stories left in the early run. Based on the official synopsis, Sara Howard will open her own private detective agency and will also lead the charge on a brand-new case.
Sara will reunite with the formidable alienist Dr. Kreizler and now a New York Times reporter John Moore. They'll try to find Ana Linares, the Spanish Consular's kidnapped infant daughter. Their investigation, however, leads them to a path of a dangerous and elusive killer.
The series also tackles some provocative issues of the era, including the role of women in society, yellow press sensationalism, income inequality, and the corruption of institutions. These themes still resonate today, which makes the series more interesting.
The Alienist is a period drama based on Caleb Carr's novel of the same name. It first aired on TNT in January 2018 and concluded in March 2018. Set in 1886, the series follows a series of gruesome murders of boy prostitutes in New York City.
Teddy Roosevelt, the newly appointed police commissioner, calls Dr. Laszlo Kreizler and John Moore to conduct a secret investigation. Sara Howard joins them, as well as NYPD detective sergeants Jewish twin brothers Marcus and Lucius Isaacson.

The new season also welcomes newcomers Melanie Field and Rosy McEwen.
