A lot of different shows are being pushed back because of the real-life health crisis happening around the world at the moment. For instance, the Gossip Girl reboot is slated to premiere in fall 2020 on HBO Max, but that won't happen now due to the potential delay.

If ever, Gossip Girl reboot may now arrive in 2021 -- as long as everything gets back to normal. Speaking to Vulture, HBO Max chief content officer Kevin Reilly has something to say about this particular subject, revealing they hadn't started production yet.

Reilly said they were in pre-production, but because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the meaningful and high profiles have been pushed back. He didn't offer a specific timetable as to when the reboot may start filming, but considering the current situation, it may not premiere until 2021.

Since Gossip Girl reboot hasn't yet started filming, there were only a few details about it. But, writer/showrunner Joshua Safran and original creators Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz are exec producing the show, which will pick up eight years after the original The CW series left off.

In a previous report via TVLine, Schwartz made it clear during the TCA that Gossip Girl reboot will be more of a continuation of the original story. They won't create new versions of people who are already out there, given that the characters from the original series have been loved by many.

Schwartz said there won't be new actors playing Blair and Serena since it's not a remake. He noted that the story is the continuation of the world, which means it would follow the lives of the new characters. Yet, he also said they've reached out to the stars of the original show and would love to include them.

Schwartz noted they would add them as long as they want to be involved. It would be nice to see them again and having a reunion, especially since they've played iconic characters for six years. The original series stars Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, and Taylor Momsen.

Meanwhile, the cast of Gossip Girl reboot includes Emily Alyn Lind, Zion Moreno, Whitney Peak, Adam Chanler-Berat, Eli Brown, Thomas Doherty, Johnathan Fernandez, Tavi Gevinson, and Jason Gotay. Kristen Bell will return as the narrator.

New hot teens at the Upper East Side will deal with the Gossip Girl's wrath. Lind plays the character of Audrey, a relationship girl who wanted to ditch her long-time boyfriend to get the freedom that she wants and the titular blogger will be all over that.
