Kate Middleton opens up about how she talks to her children about coronavirus. Her two older kids with Prince William -- Prince George, nearly 7 years old, and Princess Charlotte, 5, -- are quite aware that there's something going on but Kate said that there "ups and downs" to making them understand what is really happening.

In an interview with BBC, Kate said that, as parents, it's their job not to scare their children and overwhelm them about coronavirus. So, they explain the pandemic in simple and age-appropriate ways

The Duchess of Cambridge said that although her children surprise her at times with their awareness, they have their ups and downs at home, like many families around the world who have to remain in isolation. Kate admits that explaining coronavirus to a 5 and 7-year-old is difficult, especially when they can't go out, go to school or see their friends.

However, Kate said that they also get enough support from the children's school. Princess Charlotte and Prince George attend Thomas's Battersea in London.

Prince William also said that they have the support of family members. They have been talking to each other online, especially Prince Charles, who has been keeping in touch with his grandchildren as he isolates in Birkhall.

The Duchess of Cambridge also said that they've been connecting on FaceTime more times now than before because of the lockdown situation. They talk about the news and many other topics in between.

Meanwhile, Princess Charlotte is supposed to return to school on June 1. Prince George could follow a few weeks later, as the U.K. is slowly easing its lockdown rules.

Reports cite, however, that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge might prefer that the children keep their homeschooling schedule. They might defy the government's guidelines this time and let Princess Charlotte stay at home with Prince George and Prince Louis.  A lot of parents are apparently worried about sending their kids back to school when the virus is still present and there is no cure or vaccine.

Kate was initially not a fan of homeschooling but since she has been taking charge of the kids' lessons and routines since the lockdown. The Duchess of Cambridge even admitted that she didn't tell Prince George and Princess Charlotte that they had an Easter break. She let the kids continue with their homeschooling lessons so that they won't break their routines.
