Absentia season 3 is officially wrapped, so the next question now is when the series will arrive. While there is no clear answer when it comes to the official release date, some clues suggest we're moving closer to the premiere.
In a recent post via Twitter, Absentia season 3 showrunner Will Pascoe confirmed that the third installment is officially wrapped. What viewers need to do now is to wait for further announcements from networks as to when it will come out.
The release date depends on different partners -- the premiere of the series varies to which region you are. As per CarterMatt, Absentia season 3 will likely release all of its episodes at once in the United States and it could slightly be later compared to other countries.
The main question now is: when? The broadcasters may probably want to save the series and release it later in the year. Considering the real-life health crisis happening around the globe right now, most shows weren't able to work and film.
Since many programs may not air by the end of the year, Absentia season 3 could be a good replacement. But, CarterMatt also noted that the new installment may proceed with its summer premiere, largely because there aren't a lot of competitions elsewhere.
Meanwhile, season 2 saw Special Agent Emily Byrne struggling to deal with her new normal as an estranged mother and survivor of physical and mental abuse for six years. She tried to forge her relationship with her estranged son, but she can't forget the darkness of her past.
Eventually, she asked Boston Police detective Tommy Gibbs to help her secretly investigate what really happened to her. But then, the investigation doesn't go as planned and the case threatened Emily and her life. Despite that, she's still willing to risk everything just so she can uncover the truth and get justice.
In Absentia season 3, the events take place three months later, with Emily trying to become an ideal mother while preparing herself for the suspension period. However, things would get complicated because of her ex-husband Nick's criminal history, which threatens to tear the family apart.
What Emily needs to do now is to go on a venture, a journey that would test her like never before. Along the way, she'll be forced to trust and love again. And while exploring everything that happened to her, she'll finally realize her true place in the world.
Absentia stars Stana Katic as Emily Byrne, Patrick Heusinger as Special Agent Nick Durand, Angel Bonanni as Tommy Gibbs, Bruno Bichir as Daniel Vega, Paul Freeman as Warren Byrne, Christopher Colquhoun as Special Agent Derek Crown, and Patrick McAuley as Flynn Durand.
