While Snowfall season 4 is confirmed on FX, its future is still in question at the moment. Nothing is certain when it comes to its official arrival, but it looks like viewers may need to wait for a while since there could be a potential delay because of the real-life health crisis.

Snowfall season 4 shuts down its production earlier this year, leaving its filming status hanging up in the air. Production was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic and there's no indication everything will resume. The series is still incomplete, so it won't be back on air anytime soon.

Filming for the new season is not yet done, which was confirmed by co-executive producer Leonard Chang via Twitter in March 2020. He revealed that they have stopped filming for a couple of weeks and also noted they're still writing and editing.

And just recently, series star Damson Idris also shared his thoughts about the potential delay of the latest installment via Twitter. He explained what's going on with the series right now, noting there is no official release date schedule because of the health crisis.

The series usually arrives in mid-summer, with all three seasons premiered in July and ended in September. However, considering the situation of the world right now, the series may not be able to air in the mentioned month since filming has been stopped.

But despite the delay, Idris teased that Snowfall season 4 will deliver interesting and excellent stories. The actor probably has ideas about what will happen in the next installment, even though he did not get the chance to film everything in advance.

If ever Snowfall season 4 can resume production later this summer, then the series may be released in the fall or in early 2021. But right now, the main priority of the team is the health and safety of the cast and crew. All of them can start working again as soon as the current situation gets better.

The returning cast in Snowfall season 4 includes Damson Idris, Reign Edwards, Carter Hudson, Kevin Carroll, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Alon Aboutboul, Isaiah John, Judith Scott, Amin Joseph, Michael Hyatt, and Angela Lewis.

The American crime drama series is created by John Singleton, Eric Amadio, and Dave Andron. Set in Los Angeles in 1983, Snowfall chronicles the first crack epidemic and its impact on the culture. It follows the lives of Franklin Saint (Idris), Gustavo "El Oso" Zapata (Peris-Mencheta), and Teddy McDonald (Hudson).
