Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are reportedly having quiet meetings with people and communities to be more aware of the Black Lives Matter movement. The Duchess of Sussex recently opened up about the most recent incident which has sparked an outrage worldwide -- the murder of a black American by a white policeman.

According to Harper's Bazaar, Meghan and Prince Harry want to be more educated and connected to the issues affecting the black community, such as police brutality, so they are talking to different people regularly. The source said that having these meetings has been a way for Meghan and Prince Harry to "feel connected" to what is going on, in light of the protests against the killing of George Floyd.

Floyd was arrested by cops in Minneapolis, Minnesota on May 25. As they handcuffed him, one of the arresting officers pinned him to the ground by putting his knee on his neck. Floyd told the police that he couldn't breathe but the pinning went on for nine minutes until he became unresponsive.

Two subsequent autopsies revealed that Floyd died of "asphyxiation from sustained pressure" per an independent examination. The other autopsy, however, reported that the man died of "cardiopulmonary arrest complicating law enforcement subdual, restraint, and neck compression," meaning his heart failed.

Regardless of the autopsy's results, people have been taking to the streets to protest Floyd's death. Many popular personalities have also spoken up against police brutality and the treatment of black Americans, including the Duchess of Sussex.

The source further adds that this is something personal to the Duchess of Sussex, who has been a victim of racial discrimination herself. Meghan finally addressed Floyd's killing when she gave the commencement address to the graduating class of her alma matter, Immaculate Heart High School, Wednesday.

Speaking through a video conference, Megan said that she was contemplating hard on what to tell the students for fear that her words would be picked apart and misconstrued. In light of what's going on lately, however, Meghan said that the only wrong thing to do is to not speak up.

Meghan also said that Floyd's life mattered, as did the life of other black Americans who were unjustly murdered. She told the students that she's sorry they have to grow up in a world where racism still exist.

She implored them to lead with love and compassion and to use their voice by voting for the right leaders. Meghan said that the world needs young voices and that she's confident they are prepared to venture into the world with a strong and open mind.
