Emperor Lee Gon and detective Jung Tae Eul could still have a happy ending in The King: Eternal Monarch finale despite the battle that they have to face when they travel in the past. Lee Min Ho left some hints on his social media accounts that his character may succeed in his mission.

The King: Eternal Monarch is heading to its final episode this week. Emperor Lee Gon (Lee Min Ho) has decided to give up on his life and happiness with Tae Eul (Kim Go Eun) to save both worlds from Lee Lim's (Lee Jung Jin) evil deeds.

In the previous episode, Lee Lim ended up under detective Kang Shin Jae's (Kim Kyung Nam) custody but the detective cannot hold him long. Knowing that there is also no law in the Republic of Korea to punish the King's uncle from the alternate universe, Lee Gon decided that the only way to stop Lee Lim is to kill him in the past.

He plans to go back to the night of the treason to save his young self and kill his traitor uncle. However, there is no assurance that he can never meet his loved ones again once he does it.

The teaser for the upcoming finale is a bit vague about what fans could expect from Episode 16. It showed Tae Eul crossing paths with the grown-up Lee Ji Eun, Lee Gon's doppelganger in the Republic of Korea. Ji Hoon is seen in his naval uniform, and he does not recognize the detective.

The clip also hints troubles for Shin Jae and Captain Jo Yeong (Woo Do Hwan). Fans of the series are also expecting to see what will happen to Prime Minister Koo Seo Ryung (Jung Eun Chae) after she found out that Lee Lim could have possibly killed her mother and brought her doppelganger to KOC.

Meanwhile, Lee Min Ho seems to offer more clues about the much-awaited finale of his comeback TV series. The actor posted some photos of him on the set of series and it offered an assurance that K-drama fans would be gifted with a happy ending.

In the photos, Lee Min Ho is seen running in between rows of wedding chairs that were set up at Lee Gon's palace. It is worth noting that Lee Gon's scene at this set hasn't been seen in the past episodes of the fantasy romance drama.

Fans shared their theories that Tae Eul will decide to stay on KOC to be Lee Gon's queen. This also means that the Emperor could have succeeded in his mission and will be able to meet Tae Eul again in the present time.

The King: Eternal Monarch finale airs on June 12, at 10 p.m. KST on SBS. It is also available via Netflix.

The finale episode is expected to attract more viewers. The penultimate episode of the series which was aired on June 6 saw an increase in viewership ratings. According to Nielsen Korea, The King: Eternal Monarch Episode 15 garnered an average nationwide rating of 5.9 percent and 8.1 percent for its two parts.
