After being caught in a drunk driving scandal AB6IX's Lim Young Min will no longer be part of the group, Brand New Music confirmed. As a result, the entire album has been re-recorded and repackaged to feature only four members.
Based on a statement issued by AB6IX's label Brand New Music, Lim Young Min will permanently leave the group after the artist decided that he did not want to cause damage to the image of his members.The label apologized for the shocking news as well as the production team for the delays in AB6IX's comeback because of the drunk driving issue.
Brand New Music assured fans that they will continue to support and cherish AB6IX, especially with their comeback on June 29. They asked for the fans' continued love and support for the members, who will now start promoting as a four-member group.
It can be recalled that on May 31, Lim Young Min was arrested by authorities for driving under the influence. Brand New Music immediately came out with a statement of apology for the unfortunate news and announced that Young Min will sit out the promotions for AB6IX's comeback which was originally scheduled for June 9.
Along with the announcement of Young Min's hiatus, the label also announced the postponement of the comeback to June 29.
Lim Young Min also issued a personal apology to fans who were disappointed with his behavior. In the letter he posted on AB6IX's fan cafe, he said that he was embarrassed by his irresponsible actions which caused inconvenience to a lot of people.
While he thanked the fans who expressed support, he also said that he understood those who criticized him. He said he was sorry to his members who also suffered setbacks because of his lapse in judgment.He promised to use his time in hiatus to reflect on his actions and become a better and more responsible artist in the future.
Meanwhile, Brand New Music has revealed the actions it is taking to make adjustments because Lim Young Min departed from the group.
According to the label, they have completed re-recording the tracks of AB6IX's comeback album VIVID, which were originally arranged for five members. The members are also making adjustments to the choreography to account for their missing member.
Brand New Music also explained that it is doing its best to make adjustments to the packaging, but because of the limited time, they may not be able to completely redo the components of the packaging.
Because the filming for MV of The Answer has also been completed, the label explained that they would not be able to reshoot the entire material so they will instead be re-editing the video to minimize Lim Young Min's exposure, Soompi reported.
