Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are shifting their focus to the Black Lives Matter movement, according to reports. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were originally pouring their energy on charities addressing communities impacted by the coronavirus pandemic but they have apparently decided to shift to a different cause.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl revealed that Prince Harry and Meghan are planning to do more work in line with the Black Lives Matter movement. Nicholl said that the cause "really resonates" with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex after speaking to community leaders and those involved with the movement in Los Angeles.

Prince Harry and Meghan apparently feel that their different backgrounds and perspectives as a British royal and a biracial Californian would be effective for Black Lives Matter. Meghan is apparently passionate about becoming a role model who can tackle issues like racial inequality and other issues affecting the African American community.

The Duchess of Sussex also believes that this is what's expected of her as someone who is biracial. Thus, Prince Harry and Meghan are addressing the expectations and doing what they are supposed to do.

Prince Harry and Meghan, however, have some apprehensions about the potential backlash of focusing on Black Lives Matter. Meghan was particularly worried about her speech to high school students about violence and inequality following the murder of George Floyd, the African American who suffered at the hands of white cops.

However, she got her message across expertly without even having notes for her speech. The Duchess of Sussex told the students to build a new world emulating kindness and tolerance.

Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are bent on launching a new foundation sometime this year to jumpstart their life outside of the royal family. They have established Archewell, their new foundation, to replace the Sussex Royal Foundation.

Prince Harry and Meghan were supposed to unveil Archewell's direction last spring but they had to hold off officially revealing their plans since the pandemic struck the world. The royal couple has instead been working quietly among charities to establish their foundation's direction, which will now include causes supporting marginalized communities.

Aside from Black Lives Matter, Prince Harry still has his mental health and military veterans causes. Meghan also has her animal advocacy and her women's shelter initiatives.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have taken the time during this coronavirus lockdown to assess their plans in Los Angeles. In the middle of this, they have also been hands-on in raising their one-year-old son, Archie Harrison.
