Amid the Pull up for Change challenge, asking companies to share the number of their Black employees, Khloe Kardashian revealed the diversity in her Good American brand workforce. As Tristan Thompson's ex-partner revealed that 15% of her employees are Black, some questioned the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star over the figure.
However, she has an excellent management team that presents a better Black representation. After Kylie Jenner first revealed the number of Black employees in Kylie Cosmetics, Khloe Kardashian followed suit.
In a post on the Good American Instagram page, it revealed that it has 15% Black employees, 32% Persons of Color, and 52% White. It said that it was proud to share the numbers of their workforce, claiming it looked "slightly more promising" when it came to the management's diversity.
The 35-year-old star's leadership team, alternatively, is composed of 25% Black, 50% female, and 84% female-identifying. It also has a Black CEO and co-founder, Emma Grede, who is also the television personality's business partner.
In the caption, it said that Good American joined the Pull Up for Change challenge and proud to be one of the first fashion brands that participated. It then revealed that "diversity and inclusion" had always been its core, so they saw the initiative as an opportunity to highlight the work the brand did to make sure that its mission was felt at the company.
It also added that it was committed to continuing its focus on diversity throughout its organization, both within its talent and partners and employees. It also claimed that it refused to be self-satisfied, clearing that its numbers added up to 99% because it had 99% participation from its employees.
Meanwhile, as Good American brand had been honest with the number of its Black employees, according to Mirror Online, it gave everyone a chance to question Khloe Kardashian over having least Black people in her workforce. The mother-of-one is now, reportedly, facing a social media backlash because of the figures.
One commented that with a company that has a Black CEO, people are expecting to see better numbers. Another one explained that although 15% of Black employees seemed to be not bad, given that the Black population in the United States is only 14%, they like to know what are the positions that they have.
If these Black employees are only working at customer service and warehouse, then it may be a problem. Also, someone pointed out that Khloe Kardashian's Good American brand seemed to be pleased with the number of its Black employees when they think it is not.
