While there are still uncertainties when it comes to the official premiere of SWAT season 4, the upcoming installment may tackle some serious and real-life current events. Police brutality has been on focus over the past few weeks, which led to protests and demands of change.

For police-theme television series, some of the events happening in the real world should be addressed. And it seems like SWAT season 4 may explore some of these issues. The series could address these timely topics, something that the show is committed to doing.

While this is challenging, the series is seemingly ready to embrace this matter. Speaking to The Huffington Post, executive producer/co-creator Aaron Rahsaan Thomas discussed this particular subject -- especially for viewers living elsewhere who may not get the perspective.

Rahsaan explained that the responsibilities with their audience and their format are different -- something that they're very aware of. They don't look at it as something to be fearful about, and instead, they see it as an opportunity.

He noted that they're trying to avoid offering easy answers and look at it as an opportunity to expand the conversation. What the show is trying to do is to bring points of view to the viewers that they've perhaps never considered.

Most police TV shows are a reflection of reality, so it is important to tackle the issues happening in the real world. In a recent Twitter post, the official writers' room made it clear that they'll work to mine the truth about all of the issues in the upcoming SWAT season 4.

Perhaps, SWAT season 4 will keep on delivering more relatable stories, something that the show has already done before. The series may convey important messages so that everyone would recognize all of the important issues.

Meanwhile, the release date of the upcoming installment remains uncertain as of this writing. Because of the current global health crisis, cast and crew won't be able to start working anytime soon. And prior to the coronavirus outbreak, CBS chose to put the new season of The Amazing Race on Wednesdays.

That only means the new season won't probably resume until around 2021. But as per CarterMatt, this could be changed, though it all depends on several factors. The premiere date could be moved up as long as the situation gets back to normal.

And when the series returns, SWAT season 4 may likely pick up the events originally planned in the season 3 finale. There is one episode that wasn't filmed in the previous installment, so this will probably be included in the new season.
