WARNING: This article may contain spoilers for SWAT season 3 episode 20. Read at your own risk.
SWAT season 3 episode 20 is scheduled to arrive next week on CBS, with the title "Wild Ones." This episode is important as it serves as the penultimate of the season. Since this is the last one before the finale, expect some big stories here.
In SWAT season 3 episode 20, the team focuses on stopping a dangerous couple causing troubles. The synopsis notes the team pursues a duo similar to Bonnie and Clyde. What's unique and exciting about this episode is that it features a classic true-crime story.
The couple goes on a run and tries to hunt down a set of rare chest pieces worth millions. This is an interesting case-of-the-week story as the SWAT team is after a couple who's causing all sorts of problems. It looks like there's more to this duo that they previously expected.
The team will probably have a hard time tracking them down, given that the coupley may have already planned what they'll do before going on a run. The promo of the upcoming episode also features an intense showdown between the SWAT team and the duo.
Meanwhile, SWAT season 3 episode 20 also brings a personal arc for Hondo, and his relationship with Daryl may further be explored as well. Based on the synopsis, the two are surprised after Darryl's ex-girlfriend visits his young son.
Luca will also have a personal story in the penultimate episode. He'll confront his fear of failing his requalification to return to the field while he helps his mentee, Kelly. Whatever happens to him here may continue in the season finale.
CBS was able to film the majority of the episodes of SWAT before it halted its production. While the story may feel incomplete, there's still an opportunity to see big stories coming. Also, the episodes that weren't filmed might be added in the potential next season.
Right now, however, the future of SWAT season 4 remains uncertain as CBS has yet to announce the official renewal status of the series. When it comes to ratings, season 3 averaged a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and about 3.9 million live viewers.
Reportedly, these numbers dropped compared to season 2, but there's still hope. The renewal could be possible, largely because of its international popularity, DVR performance, as well as the presence of Shemar Moore as the lead character. And unlike other networks, CBS doesn't have many cancelations.
SWAT season 3 episode 20 airs on Wednesday night, Apr. 29, on CBS.
