HBO Max officially renewed Love Life season 2 the same day the final four episodes of the first season dropped. The romantic comedy series is one of the best performers following its launch on the streaming service, so it only makes sense to give in the green light.
But although Love Life season 2 is already renewed, there's still a question when it comes to its arrival. Considering the real-life health crisis around the world, the release date of the second installment could potentially be delayed.
Screenrant also noted that HBO Max will likely prioritize its other original series to bolster its exclusive content. Right now, we can expect the premiere of the upcoming season either in late spring or early summer 2021. Yet, some things could still change depending on the situation.
As for what happened in season 1, Darby Carter (Anna Kendrick) rekindled her romance with Augie (Jin Ha) after her marriage with Magnus (Nick Thune) failed. However, despite finding happiness in her life, Darby realized that she and Augie weren't a fit. But at the same time, she found out she's pregnant.
Darby and Augie separated but they agreed to co-parent their son, Theo. Then, she went on to meet the new man in her life and her final love, Grant (Kingsley Ben-Adir). But then, Darby's story won't be followed in Love Life season 2 as another face takes on the center stage.
It seems like each season gives viewers different perspectives, making the anthology series more interesting. There are still a lot of stories worth-exploring here, and we're going to see more faces appearing along the way.
In the Love Life season 2, Kendrick's Darby will not be the protagonist, as the story focuses on someone else within her world. The series is once again set in New York City and the new protagonist will realize that a change is needed years into marriage.
Perhaps, this person is someone Darby has dated or interacted with in the past. Some speculated Augie could one of the candidates. There's also a chance they could be other men Darby had flings with, like Luke (John Gallagher Jr.).
There's also speculation that Love Life season 2 will center on Grant before he met and settled down with Darby. But if not, the latest installment could also follow Darby's close friends, such as Mallory (Sasha Compère). Also, Kendrick will still reprise her role from time to time.
