If there is someone who can shut down Donald Trump, that is definitely his wife, Melania Trump. The upcoming book about the First Lady of the United States revealed that Trump was too scared to face Melania when the Access Hollywood tape of him came out back in 2016.

Author Mary Jordan revealed in her new book, The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump, that it took two hours for Trump to muster courage to face his wife after the scandalous tape came out. In the said tape, Trump was seen talking in lewd terms and bragging to Access Hollywood host Billy Bush on a hot mic about his attempts to kiss women without asking.

The recording was made in 2005. At the time, Trump was already married to Melania. The Washington Post released the tape in October 2016, one month before the presidential election.

Jordan wrote that Trump was with then-New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and some of his advisors at the 25th floor of Trump Tower when then-campaign press secretary Hope Hicks showed them the old footage of the real estate mogul talking about women. Jordan noted in her book that the room went dead silent after the tape was shown.

Christie was quoted as saying Melania was "the elephant not in the room" at the time. Apparently, the former New Jersey governor also said everyone in the room advised Trump to go see Melania but The Apprentice star was not rushing to go up at their penthouse.

Christie added that he also told Trump that he better talk to his wife immediately because it won't get any easier. Jordan quoted Christie as saying the then-presidential candidate Trump hesitated for two hours to face his wife.

The author also cited another source, who was also present in the room, as saying Trump's face turned red after watching the footage. The Republican presidential candidate also appeared "frightened" to see his wife as he was fully aware of the ramification of his action once he got home.

It turned out that Melania stayed calm when her husband finally talked to her. The now-First Lady also accepted Trump's apology.

Melania also defended her husband in an interview with Anderson Cooper on CNN, 10 days after release of the tape. She told the news anchor that Trump was just "egged on" in a "boy talk."
