As soon as they stepped into the political area, the life of Donald Trump and his wife, Melania, has been on the careful watch of the media and the public. But people are not only analyzing their capacity as the First Couple of the United States but also as parents to their only son, Barron.

Over the years, it has become clear that Melania Trump is a hands-on mom. The former model reportedly did not hire a nanny to help her out in the daily needs of Barron, who was born in March 2006.

Baby expert and author of Your Baby Skin to Skin, Rachel Fitz-Desorgher, said FLOTUS has not been following any conventional parenting rules in raising her son. Fitz-Desorgher said Melania has a unique parenting style since her husband let her take the lead.

FLOTUS confirmed in a previous interview that she is a disciplinarian parent. Melania added that she also made sure that she spent time with Barron as much as she could.

After Trump won the elections in 2016 and took his oath in January 2017, Melania didn't immediately move to the White House. She spent time with Barron in New York City. The mother and son only moved to the White House after Barron finished the school year.

Fitz-Desorgher added Melania could have been making some changes to her parenting styles since she became the First Lady. She said FLOTUS could have adapted her way of raising Barron on her day-to-day activities and on whether or not she is at home or in another country.

Mrs. Trump is also known for being a protective mother to her only child. When Professor Pamela Karlan made a joke involving Barron during her testimony at Trump's impeachment trial last year, Melania fired back on the professor. FLOTUS took to Twitter to defend her son and called out Karlan for mentioning her son.

But that wasn't the case for Trump. The president is clearly not a hand-on father as he admitted in a past interview.

During Donald and Melania's interview with Larry King Live after their wedding in 2005 and before Barron was born, the then-real estate mogul talked about parenting. King asked Trump if he still wanted to have children with Melania, considering that he already has four kids from his previous marriages.

The Apprentice star said yes but added he will definitely not change diapers or prepare food. He also hinted at the time that he may not see his child with Melania more often than typical fathers do.

It can be recalled that POTUS was also slammed for being too detached from his children, particularly Barron. Trump was mocked on social media last year after he referred to 14-year-old Barron as "Melania's son."
